Marie Papini, LPC, Ed.S., Owner
As a Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly 20 years of experience supporting students, families, teens, and adults, Marie Papini brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and educational leadership to her work. Prior to opening Papini Counseling, she spent 17 years serving as a School Counselor and Coordinator of Student Support across multiple school districts. In these roles, she trained educators in trauma-informed practices, implemented MTSS frameworks, supervised clinicians, and developed programs that improved mental health outcomes, increased graduation rates, and strengthened school communities.
Marie is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), trauma-informed care, and person-centered therapy. She specializes in helping teens and adults navigate anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in practical, real-world strategies that help clients not only feel better, but function better in their daily lives.
At Papini Counseling, care is rooted in a person-centered philosophy, emphasizing the importance of a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, supported, and understood. Marie integrates evidence-based modalities to meet each client’s unique needs, drawing from DBT to build skills in emotional regulation, communication, and distress tolerance, as well as solution-focused strategies to identify strengths, clarify goals, and foster meaningful progress. Her work is guided by an empathy-centered lens, incorporating mindfulness practices to promote grounding and presence, along with psychoeducation to help clients better understand their patterns, symptoms, and internal responses.
For clients processing trauma, anxiety, or distressing memories, Marie offers EMDR, a powerful therapeutic approach that supports the brain’s natural ability to heal from overwhelming experiences. Together, these modalities create a balanced, personalized, and effective approach to therapy—supporting individuals and systems alike with clarity, resilience, and compassion.
